If you're selling or installing a wood burning stove, you need to make sure a Data Notice Plate is completed with the installation details.
Under the UK Building Regulations J5 there is a requirement for the Provision of information which affects the installation of a permanent combustion appliance such as wood stoves or oil appliances to provide performance capabilities of the hearth, fireplace or chimney where the appliance is installed.
A way of providing this information is to permanently fix a robust, indelibly marked and securely fixed Notice plate in an obvious position within the building such as: next to the electricity consumer unit; or next to the chimney or hearth described.
Completion and fixing of this Notice Plate will provide compliance with the Building Regulations.
